# Eskom strengthened South Africa’s energy security last month through record-high plant performance, and significantly reduced unplanned breakdowns during a high winter electricity demand in the country. The power utility reached a daily high of 82.4-percent on 26 July, marking the best daily performance level recorded since September 2017. Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokwena says the unplanned outages were reduced to their lowest level in eight years, below the five-thousand-megawatts mark:
