# The chief whip of the Emalahleni local municipality in the Eastern Cape, Xoliseka Lali, had been shot dead in Komani. Lali was also the authority’s head of Infrastructure Portfolio. His body was discovered in the bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and back. Eastern Cape police have launched an official investigation, and no suspects have been arrested yet. The motive is still unknown.
