Electricity Department calls for women’s empowerment and gender equality in the energy sector [SOUND]

# Deputy minister of Electricity and Energy, Samantha Graham-Maré, says there needs to be a greater emphasis on women’s empowerment in the energy sector. The latest data by the International Energy Agency illustrates that the energy sector is the least diverse sector of the economy, with women being 20-percent of the sector’s workforce despite them making up 40-percent of the global employment. Graham-Maré says tackling gender disparity in the energy sector is crucial to advancing energy transitions:
