# The Eastern Cape provincial government has confirmed that the death toll from the recent floods has risen to 88, including a ten-year-old girl from Libode. Post-mortems have been completed, with 83 bodies positively identified and 56 already released to families. Five remain unidentified. In a statement the government says authorities continue to work closely with affected families, offering psychosocial and spiritual support, with help from the South African Council of Churches. Recovery efforts across the province are being intensified following the widespread devastation caused by the floods.
