Department of Science says carbon dioxide emissions in the transport sector must be reduced urgently [SOUND]

# The Department of Science, Technology and Innovation says global commitments are needed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the transport sector, which have catalysed growing market demand for electric vehicles. By 2035, it is projected that 63-percent of key export markets will implement bans on the sale of new internal combustion engine vehicles. The department’s deputy director of Power, Mbangiseni Mabudafhasi, says South Africa must minimise the carbon emissions of ICE vehicles while simultaneously fostering the growth of electric vehicles:
