# The DA in the Western Cape has welcomed the proactive initiatives by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, to meet the rising demand for recycled tyres. Despite collecting 34-thousand-680 tonnes of waste tyres in the province from April 2024 to March 2025, only ten-thousand-840 tonnes were recycled. The DA’s, Dave Bryant, says this leaves a 23-thousand-840-tonne gap in processing capacity:
