# The DA has expelled Cape Town politician AbdulKader Elyas after an internal investigation found he had given false information about his qualifications. Elyas admitted to five disciplinary charges over his qualifications in 2024 but was allowed to stay in the party. The DA’s legal commission later recommended his expulsion, which was approved by the party’s federal executive. Elyas was also fourth on the DA’s candidate list for the City of Cape Town ahead of the 4 November local government elections.
