# The DA says the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is successfully turning South Africa into a construction site, cutting out corruption, creating job opportunities, and reclaiming public property. The party supported the department’s budget in the National Council of Provinces yesterday. The DA’s Igor Scheurkogel says a total medium-term infrastructure investment of 54.1-billion-rand means better buildings, safer communities, and improved local service delivery. He adds that they also support minister Dean Macpherson’s crackdown on the construction mafia, with over 240 arrests to date.
