# The DA is calling for the resignation of Eastern Cape Social Development MEC, Bukiwe Fanta, after 70 children died from hunger this year. In a parliamentary reply, Fanta admitted her department distributed only nine food parcels across the province in the first three months of this year. The DA’s Marlene Ewers accused Fanta of failing to act despite clear recommendations from the South African Human Rights Commission to declare a disaster and coordinate urgent relief.
