Cricket: Lord’s pitch deemed unsatisfactory in first Test between England and New Zealand

# Cricket: The pitch of the home of cricket, Lord’s in London, was found to be unsatisfactory during the first Test between England and New Zealand. Match referee Andy Pycroft delivered the verdict after the hosts won by 115 runs within four days. England’s captain, Ben Stokes, and former captains Nasser Hussain and Michael Vaughan also criticised the pitch. Lord’s owners, the Marylebone Cricket Club, apologised afterwards, while the venue received one demerit point. The penultimate Test starts at the Oval in London next Wednesday.
