# The High Court in the Western Cape sitting in Saldanha Bay, has ruled that confession statements by accused Jacquen Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn in the Joshlin Smith case are admissible. They claimed they were assaulted into confessing, but Judge Nathan Erasmus dismissed the claims as medical evidence contradicted claims of abuse. The judge rule that the state can use the confessions in the trial:
