# The Congress of south African Trade Unions has welcomed the Competition Commission’s application to revoke the conditional approval of the Premier Group and RFG Holdings merger. The move follows an investigation into Premier’s decision to close its Tulbagh canning operation and retrench workers. In a statement, the federation says that Premier Group had indicated during merger proceedings that it did not plan to close manufacturing facilities. It says the investigation found those representations were inaccurate. COSATU says it now awaits the Competition Tribunal’s decision on the application.
