# Union federation Cosatu has described the 2026/2027 Budget and Medium-Term Expenditure Framework as lacklustre, saying it fails to respond decisively to the fundamental crises facing the working class and the economy. The federation does welcome positive allocations for health and education, in particular 7.8-billion-rand for the National Health Insurance Grants. Cosatu’s Matthew Parks says the budget is focused on balancing the books, not on aggressively kickstarting economic growth or tackling unemployment:
