COSATU has welcomed assurances from the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry that workers’ money is safe and the various funds under its control remain sustainable. This follows media reports alleging that the council was misrepresenting workers’ sick pay, holiday pay and leave pay funds as its own assets in its financial statements. COSATU spokesperson Zanele Sabela says the council has clarified that there is no legal requirement to prepare separate financial statements for each fund under its Constitution:
