COSATU cautiously welcomes Q2 growth but warns of challenges [SOUND]

# The Congress of South African Trade Unions has cautiously welcomed South Africa’s 0.8-percent gross domestic product growth between April and June 2025, up from 0.1-percent between January and March. Gains were seen in mining, trade, and manufacturing, but construction declined. The federation warns growth may be short-lived due to US tariff hikes and rising electricity costs. Cosatu’s Matthew Parks says a three-percent growth rate is vital to reduce unemployment:
