# The City of Johannesburg has completed a 334-million-rand climate resilience project aimed at reducing flooding and environmental damage. The programme for nature-based solutions for climate adaptation in Sub-Saharan Africa created one-thousand-500 jobs, restored 489 hectares of land, planted more than 47-thousand trees and removed 664 tonnes of waste from the Jukskei River. The project also introduced flood early-warning monitoring systems and focused on areas including Alexandra, Soweto and the inner city.
