City of Cape Town boosts informal economy with 800 new trading opportunities

# Cape Town has approved four major informal trading plans, creating nearly 800 new trading opportunities across the city. Key areas include the Mamre, Pella, Elsies River, 416 bays at Grand Parade and 265 bays in Gatesville. Mayoral committee member for Economic Growth, James Vos, says the initiative aims to improve infrastructure, support unpermitted traders, and boost economic activity. He says that the move is part of the City’s broader effort to strengthen local economies and support community development.
