Cape Town allocates R88-million to the highway cleaning initiative [SOUND]

# The City of Cape Town’s new 400-strong Highway Cleaning Unit has begun its duties along the metro’s highways, major arterial roads and transport hubs. A total of 88-million-rand has been allocated to the highway cleaning initiative in 2025/2026, with close to 400 new cleaning boots added to the ground, including 298 workers, 78 team leaders and 18 senior foremen. Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the new Highway Cleaning Unit will also target known illegal dumping hotspots:
