Cape Town students take part in challenge to document urban biodiversity [SOUND]

# Cape Town students and residents have taken part in the 2025 City Nature Challenge. The initiative is aimed at documenting more than three-thousand-500 species across urban and marine spaces. From kelp forests to city gardens, the participants contributed 36-thousand observations, placing the metro 12th globally. The citizen-science event promotes environmental awareness and supports conservation efforts. Cape Town’s Environmental Educator, Myrna Scholtz, told Deutsche Welle that the data helps track biodiversity trends:
