# A partnership between the City of Cape Town and The Litterboom Project has resulted in more than 23 tonnes of waste being removed from rivers and canals since May this year. Through the metro’s grant funding, the project has installed eight new litterbooms across the metro. Mayoral committee member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, says Litterboom also takes plastic pollution in rivers and converts it into raw material for the production of useful items:
