Cape Town adopts City of Hope Budget with R40-billion basic infrastructure investment intact [SOUND]

# Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says with the adoption of the 2026/2027 City of Hope Budget, the metro has managed to keep its record 40-billion-rand basic infrastructure investment intact for the next three years. The budget also includes expanded relief to shield lower- and middle-income households. Hill-Lewis says around 130-thousand construction-related jobs will flow from capital investment in the current term of office alone, with 75-percent of infrastructure spending directly benefiting lower-income households:
