# Cabinet has welcomed new train operators on Transnet’s rail network to improve freight efficiency and support economic growth. The new operators will run 41 routes across six corridors, carrying coal, chrome, iron ore, manganese, containers, fuel, and sugar. Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni told the media the operators are expected to move an extra 20-million tonnes of freight each year from next year, helping the government reach its target of 250-million tonnes by 2029:
