Bureau for Economic Research flags higher food costs as CPI set to inch higher in June

# The Bureau for Economic Research says the consumer price index is expected to rise slightly in June but remains within the South African Reserve Bank’s target range of three-to-six-percent. Food prices, particularly meat, are forecast to push food inflation to about five-percent. Overall inflation is predicted to stay near three-percent. Statistics South Africa will release the official June CPI figures on Wednesday. The bureau reports inflation expectations for 2025 have dropped to about four-percent, while wage increase forecasts have gone up.
