# The latest FNB and Bureau for Economic Research building confidence index shows builders remain negative, with confidence dropping to 35 points from July to September. Main contractor confidence rose to 46 points, quantity surveyors fell 12 points, architects dropped two points, sub-contractors rose to 37 points, and hardware retailers to 36 points. FNB senior economist Siphamandla Mkhwanazi says building activity has recovered to average levels, but weaker architect and surveyor activity may slow momentum in the coming months.
