# Auditor General Tsakani Maluleke has called for renewed efforts towards achieving full gender equality. Speaking at a Thabo Mbeki Foundation event, Maluleke emphasised the need to dismantle legal, social, and economic barriers to women’s empowerment. Maluleke urged all sectors to accelerate efforts to realise gender equity, in the wake of the Beijing Declaration’s 30th anniversary. She said that public sector institutions must be intentional:
