# Athletics: Swedish-American pole-vaulting sensation Mondo Duplantis announced he would skip the indoor season to rest and prepare for the outdoor season. The 26-year-old world and Olympic champion says his body needs recovery so he can perform at his best when he returns to competition in May next year. The outdoor season ends in September 2027 with the World Championships. Duplantis, who improved his own world record to 6.31-metres recently, says he wants to keep challenging himself to reach even greater heights.
