Athletics: 49 South Africans will participate in world championship in Tokyo

# Athletics: Forty-nine South Africans will participate in the world championships, starting in Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday. Among them are sprinter Akani Simbine, 400-meter world record holder Wayde van Niekerk, world indoor 800-meter champion Prudence Sekgodiso and Olympic javelin silver medallist Jo-Ané du Plessis. Athletics South Africa’s president, James Moloi, says the team reflects the dedication, resilience, and hard work of the athletes, coaches and support staff. He urges the participants to remain focused and disciplined as they take on the world’s best.
