# Arrive Alive has stressed the importance of seatbelt use as a life-saving intervention ahead of the Easter holidays. Spokesperson Simon Zwane says with many South Africans using long-distance buses, the risk of road fatalities and injuries is high. Zwane says a study by the Road Traffic Management Corporation found that bus crashes accounted for 21-percent of road fatalities from 2018 to 2024, with 580 deaths and nearly one-thousand injuries. He insists that proper seatbelt use could reduce these numbers significantly.
