# The ANC has reaffirmed its full confidence in the Independent Electoral Commission and its integrity. The party maintains that technical problems with the IEC’s candidate-capture system affected a small number of its candidate entries for the local government elections. Political parties and independent candidates were required to submit their nominations by 5 pm on August 28. However, the IEC says its system was fully operational.
