# The Alliance of Citizens for Change has condemned the deadly mass shootings in Gauteng and the Western Cape over the weekend. Eighteen people were shot dead when eight gunmen opened fire at patrons at a tavern in Wedela on Gauteng’s West Rand. Ten people were killed in Lwandle, Cape Town, yesterday morning. The alliance’s spokesperson, Masizole Mnqasela, says the mass shootings reinforce their call for the reinstatement of the death penalty:
