# Residents in Boksburg have raised the alarm over the deteriorating state of their local lake on Gauteng’s East Rand. The water has reportedly turned to a rusty red, allegedly due to acid mine drainage. The Boksburg Lake now emits a foul smell, has dead fish, and discoloured water is reportedly entering homes. Speaking to the SABC, Groundwork’s Bobby Peek has called for urgent intervention to address this environmental disaster:
