# The African Peoples Convention has expressed concern about the Hantavirus. A case of the rare but deadly disease was confirmed after the condition of a patient aboard the cruise ship MV Hondius, which was on its voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, necessitated his medical evacuation to a Johannesburg hospital. Three passengers who were aboard the cruise ship have died. APC’s spokesperson, Lucas Mphaka, says the Department of Health must ensure that Hantavirus does not spread in the country:
