# And South Korea opens the world’s first museum entirely dedicated to the history and art of sound reproduction
# President Cyril Ramaphosa has hailed the strengthened partnership between South Africa and Kenya, highlighting progress made through the joint trade committee and the African Continental Free Trade Area. He was speaking during engagements with Kenyan counterpart William Ruto in Pretoria. Ramaphosa welcomed cooperation in sectors, including green energy, digital trade, artificial intelligence, e-mobility and skills development. He says growing trade is creating opportunities for economic growth and youth empowerment:
# The DA says former Social Development minister Sisisi Tolashe may have been removed as an ANC cabinet minister, but that does not take away from criminal accountability. Two reports allege Tolashe’s possible culpability in irregular appointments. The DA’s Nazley Sharif says cabinet didn’t permit Tolashe to appoint her director-general for five years, and a forensic report rubished her version when she told Parliament she did not sign the former director-general’s contract:
# The Press Council of South Africa has upheld the ruling in favor of the SABC against Sunday Times and TimesLIVE on a complaint centred on reports claiming the broadcaster cancelled Face the Nation due to pressure from the ANC and government officials. The Press Ombud found the publications breached the Press Code by presenting allegations as facts and failing to publish important new information. The outlets have been ordered to issue an unconditional apology, retract the claims, and publish the SABC’s audience figures and reasons for the programme’s cancellation.
# Cricket: England’s captain, Ben Stokes, has defended Jofra Archer as the fast bowler has received criticism for his absence in the squad following his involvement in the Indian Premier League. Archer is missing the first Test against New Zealand which got underway at Lord’s today, and may not be ready to play the second Test at the Oval from the 17th. Stokes says the landscape of cricket has changed:
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-22-cents and the euro at 18-rand-88-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-83-cents and Bitcoin trades at 62-thousand-448-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-477-dollars-62-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 94-dollars-83-cents a barrel.
# And finally: The Audeum Audio Museum has opened in Seoul, South Korea, as the world’s first institution dedicated to sound reproduction. The seven-storey building, designed by architect Kengo Kuma, features a striking aluminum pipe exterior and acoustically optimized wood interiors. The entire space acts as a giant resonance box. Visitors can experience 150 years of audio history, including century-old Edison phonographs and massive Western Electric cinema speakers. A spokesperson says the goal is to let visitors truly experience the evolution of sound and not just see it.
