# Israeli lawmakers have passed a new law which allows for the setting up of a special tribunal to impose the death penalty on Palestinians convicted of taking part the Hamas-led attack on 7 October 2023. At least one-thousand-139 people were killed in the attack in southern Israel, while another 251 were kidnapped and held in captivity in Gaza.
