# The South African Commercial Catering and Allied Workers Union strongly condemns Pick ‘n Pay’s proposed restructuring affecting about 22-thousand employees. The union’s Sithembele Tshwete warns that workers face retrenchments or a downward variation of working conditions, including reduced hours, loss of benefits, and changes to shift arrangements. He says SACCAWU accuses the company of bypassing internal negotiations and says it will oppose any attempts to weaken collective agreements or undermine job security.
