# Today is D-day for all ANC members holding dual membership with the SACP to report back to the party’s Secretariat on whether they will be campaigning for the ANC or the SACP for the local government elections. This follows the SACP’s decision to contest the elections independently. The party rejected the ultimatum last month, describing it as an attempt to intimidate members and undermine the alliance. It told its members to ignore the directive. ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has warned that members who fail to adhere to the directive will face disciplinary action.
