# The Department of Social Development has launched Child Protection Month 2026 in eDumbe, KwaZulu-Natal, under the theme “Working together in ending violence against children”. Launched at Prince Mangosuthu Sports Field the initiative affirms, we reaffirm shared responsibility to protect children’s rights, prioritise their wellbeing, and support their development. Focus includes sexual abuse and neglect with eight-thousand-984 cases reported in 2025/26. The department says ending violence against children is a national priority.
