# Statistics South Africa says the latest data on civil cases for debt shows mixed trends. The number of civil summonses issued for debt fell by 2.5-percent in the three months to February compared to the same period last year. However, civil judgements for debt increased by 1.9-percent. Stats SA’s Vhonani Kwinda says the figures point to fewer cases being opened, but higher levels of debt being confirmed in court:
