# Australia’s most decorated living soldier, Ben Roberts-Smith, has been arrested over allegations of war crimes following a five-year investigation. The 47-year-old is facing five counts of the war crime of murder relating to his time serving in Afghanistan between 2009 and 2012. Roberts-Smith was previously accused in a defamation suit of murdering unarmed civilians while serving in the Australian Special Air Service in Afghanistan. He denied any wrongdoing.
