# The FW de Klerk Foundation has dismissed claims by US president Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Afrikaners are being persecuted in South Africa. The foundation says these allegations of killings and illegal land seizures are false. They warn that spreading such misinformation risks damaging South Africa’s reputation and international relations. The foundation’s Christo van der Rheede calls for unity ahead of the G20 summit in Johannesburg.
# Airports Company South Africa says Cape Town International Airport has surpassed one million passengers in October, reaching a milestone usually seen only in December. The achievement signals a strong start to the festive travel season and reflects growing confidence in the tourism and aviation sectors. ACSA spokesperson Ofentse Dijoe says they will continue working with partners to ensure safe and smooth travel during the peak season:
# EL-Shaddai Christian School in Sharpeville has suspended exams for Grades R to eleven after a Grade 10 learner allegedly took his life following bullying. Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says Grade 12 exams continue as planned. Mabona says the Gauteng Department of Education has sent teams to support the family, learners, and staff. He says a revised exam schedule will be released once the school resumes normal operations:
# Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy is set to be released from prison and be placed under judicial supervision, a Paris appeals court has decided. The 70-year-old will be banned from leaving France, with an appeal trial expected to take place later. Sarkozy, who led France from 2007 to 2012, was jailed in October after being convicted of conspiring to raise campaign funds from Libya. Sarkozy has consistently denied wrongdoing and has called the case politically motivated. His release comes after reports he had been the target of death threats in prison.
# Cricket: India’s clinching of the Womens’ one-day World Cup has led to a surge in interest in next year’s T20 World Cup in England. There was an increase of 171-percent in sales from the previous week, and 265-percent in sales for India’s matches, especially for the encounter against losing finalist the Proteas, and against Australia. The tournament runs from the 12t of June until the fifth of July, and matches will be played at Lord’s, Old Trafford, Edgbaston, Headingly, the Oval, in Bristol and in Southampton.
