# Zumas’ daughter pleads not guilty in the High Court in Durban
# The Khampepe commission’s public hearings are adjourned to 26 November

# Former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, pleaded not guilty as her trial began in the High Court in Durban. She faces charges of incitement to terrorism and public violence over social media posts during the July 2021 unrest following her father’s jailing for contempt of court. The trial, expected to run until the 21st, will hear six witnesses, including three social media experts. Zuma-Sambudla maintains the charges are politically motivated.
# The public hearings of the Khampepe commission of inquiry have been adjourned until the 26th of this month to allow for oral submissions concerning the recusal application involving senior council Ishmael Semenya. The move follows procedural disputes around the leading of evidence and the roles of evidence leaders versus party counsel. The commission’s hearings into alleged political interference in prosecutions recommended by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was to commence today. The Khampepe commission has six months to conclude its proceedings.
# Retired Ekurhuleni metro police deputy chief Revo Spies says a 2021 memorandum of understanding between Medicare 24 EMS and Anubis Protection Services was signed by EMPD deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi. Spies told the Madlanga commisison the deal, which allowed private firms to register vehicles under EMPD and use police lights, was wrong. He says the agreement triggered red flags leading to disciplinary investigations:
# Eight people died in a late-night collision on the N2 near the Scottburgh off-ramp in KwaZulu-Natal. Five of the victims were children. According to Arrive Alive, the crash involved a light vehicle rear-ending a truck, leaving two people critically injured. Investigations are underway as authorities seek to determine the cause of the accident.
# Rugby: Welsh captain Jac Morgan will miss the rest of the Autumn Nations Series after he suffered a dislocated shoulder in the record 52-28 defeat to Argentina in Cardiff yesterday. Former captain Dewi Lake will assume the captaincy, while Tommy Reffell and Harri Deaves are among those under consideration for Morgan’s replacement. Wales’ new head coach, Steve Tandy, says Morgan’s injury is a huge blow for the team:
