# Education activist, Hendrick Makaneta says the safety of educators and learners should be a top priority for both the Department of Education and law enforcement agencies. On Friday, the Dinoto Technical Secondary School deputy principal was shot and injured while making his way into the school premises in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni. Makaneta says this act of violence has no place in South Africa’s schools and schools must be safe spaces for learning:
