# The Gauteng Department of Education has expressed concern about reports of an individual known as “Godfrey”, who is allegedly soliciting bribes from parents in exchange for placements in public schools for the 2026 academic year. The online admissions placement period commenced on 16 October, when the department began sending placement offers to parents and guardians in a gradual rollout.
