Protests over disputed Tanzania election enter third day, military deployed

# Hundreds of demonstrators have squared off with police in Tanzania’s commercial capital Dar es Salaam for a third day of protests, following a disputed and chaotic election, to demand the national electoral body stop announcing electoral results. The latest developments on Friday came as the government has deployed the military onto the streets and enforced an internet shutdown. Chaos erupted after Wednesday’s election which saw President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s two biggest challengers excluded from the race that have also decried an intensifying crackdown against opposition members, activists and journalists.
