# The South African Federation of Trade Unions has welcomed the historic ruling of the High Court in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The Court overturned the 1967 inquest and found that Chief Albert Luthuli was beaten to death by apartheid police, and not killed in a train accident. SAFTU’s Asive Dyani says this judgment finally shatters the apartheid-era cover-up and restores the truth and dignity owed to Chief Luthuli:
