# Polish MiG-29 fighter aircraft intercepted a Russian reconnaissance plane over the Baltic Sea on Thursday in the second such incident this week. The aircraft was flying in international airspace without a flight plan and with its transponder turned off, before it was intercepted, identified, and escorted out of the area. Countries on NATO’s eastern flank have been on high alert for potential airspace incursions since September when three Russian military jets violated Estonia’s airspace, days after more than 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace.
