# Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will have two police officers stationed in nearby cells while he is in prison to ensure he comes to no harm. Sarkozy on Tuesday began a five-year sentence after being convicted of conspiring to raise campaign funds from Libya. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told Europe 1 radio the former president is entitled to protection because of his status. He added there is obviously a threat against Sarkozy, and this protection will be maintained while he is in detention.
