Western Cape reopens some Somerset West taxi routes after month-long closure

# The Western Cape government has reopened six taxi routes in the Somerset West area after a 30-day shutdown due to deadly clashes between the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association and the Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association associations. Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku confirmed that no extension was issued, allowing operators to resume. Authorities say routes will be closely monitored to ensure commuter safety and prevent renewed violence.
