# The City of Cape Town’s Public Empowerment and Development Department has launched the Food Gardens Project. In collaboration with the Western Cape Government’s Community Development Worker Programme, the project aims to tackle food security by feeding thousands of residents and upskilling the community. A total of 150-thousand-rand has been invested, which will help ten community food gardens in vulnerable areas, including Nyanga, Delft, and Bonteheuwel. Mayoral committee member for Urban Waste Management, Grant Twigg, says the gardens will benefit future generations.
