# AfriForum is calling for mining activities near the southern part of the Kruger National Park to stop immediately, citing a lack of environmental approvals and landowner consent. The organisation says drilling and exploration on Tenbosch, Turfbelt and Tecklenburg Ranch are unlawful, with no environmental impact assessment in place. Environmental Affairs advisor Marais de Vaal warns of legal action with costs if operations do not cease by Tuesday next week:
# Protesting climate activists were removed by police outside the Cape Town International Convention Centre during African Energy Week. Members of The Green Connection, African Climate Alliance, and Project 90 by 2030 joined the protest, calling for renewable energy solutions. Greenpeace Africa’s Desiree Lavern says Africa has some of the world’s greatest solar, wind, and geothermal potential, yet corporations want to lock countries into decades more of fossil fuel dependence:
# And finally: The Green Connection’s Koeksister Project is hosting a Community Market Day in Langebaan in the Western Cape today. The event offers local entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their products, share knowledge, and celebrate community resilience. The Green Connection’s Liz McDaid says highlights will include market stalls, interactive learning stations, cultural activities, and a screening of the film SPOILED, which explores coastal communities defending South Africa’s marine ecosystems:
